Bradley MS Honor Band ranks 3rd at the Area E Honor Band Competition

Congratulations to the Bradley Middle School Honor Band, under the direction of Emily Gurwitz, for their hard work and dedication this past year to rank 3rd at the Area E 3C Honor Band Competition on June 20, 2019! Sixteen middle school bands from four regions in Area E originally had an opportunity to compete to qualify for Area, but only eight, the top two bands from each Region, qualified. This is the highest Bradley MS Honor Band has ever ranked at Area, and the Bradley MS Honor Band was the top ranked 3C San Antonio band. The competition is particularly strong in Area E because it includes all the middle schools from North East ISD and Northside ISD from San Antonio, Austin ISD, and Leander ISD. We are so proud of all of our students and their hard work!

April 2, 2019 – Bradley MS Jazz Band 1 Invited to Perform at the 2019 Midwest International Convention in Chicago

The Bradley Middle School band program is excited to announce that Bradley Jazz Band 1 has received an invitation to perform at “The Midwest Clinic and Convention” in Chicago, IL in December 2019! For each of the past two years, only one middle school jazz band in the country has performed at Midwest. Bradley Middle School has a tradition of excellence in jazz education and performance. The Bradley Jazz legacy began in the early 1980s with Larry Schmidt and Ed Geimer who are both fantastic jazz musicians in their own right. Their hard work and musicianship laid the ground work for what the program is today.  The Bradley Band program, under the direction of Emily Gurwitz, Director of Bands and Karlos Elizondo, Assistant Director of Bands and director of Jazz Band 1, consists of beginning band classes, concert band classes, and two jazz band classes. The Bradley Band’s total enrollment is over 300 students. Both jazz bands have a long-standing tradition of winning jazz contests, particularly the annual Fiesta Jazz Festival. The Bradley Band students, instructors, clinicians, administrators, and community members are very excited about this incredible opportunity for our band program! Go Bradley Band!
